As the only national database to hold profile and case information from multi-agency partnerships, E-CINS is a critical search tool for the police. It is used extensively across the UK by multi-agency partnerships and organisations including the police, local authorities, RSLs, Health, Hospitals, public sector, third parties and the voluntary sector who upload images, reports and case information on victims, offenders and vulnerable persons they are working with.

Cross-agency work is effectively accomplished by ensuring all agencies involved in a partnership are kept fully informed of issues and concerns. Practitioners are empowered to choose who they share data with and how much information they share with them. It is possible to lock down information so that only a profile name is displayed and details of agencies who are working with that profile. This enables practitioners who are working on a particular case to make contact with agencies to request access to more information if they require it.
